Fenerbahçe’s New Signing Diego Carlos Reveals Transfer Journey and Hopes

The 31-year-old defender, who joined Fenerbahçe on a 3.5-year deal from Premier League side Aston Villa, said, “I’m very happy to be here. I was welcomed warmly. Even before arriving, I received many messages from our fans on social media. I also had the opportunity to see the stadium and our fans, witnessing how much they drive the team forward. I saw how beautiful the city is as well. I hope to start contributing to Fenerbahçe as soon as possible.”

Carlos revealed that he spoke with some of the players on the team during the transfer process. “The transfer process developed very quickly. Before coming, I had the chance to speak with many people. I talked to people I know who had previously played for this club and in this league. Of course, I had the honor of playing with En-Nesyri before, and I spoke with him before coming. I also talked with Fred since he is Brazilian. They told me how beautiful the league, the club, and the city are, which made me very eager to come here,” he said.

Diego Carlos, who watched the UEFA Europa League match against Olympique Lyon from the stands, expressed his admiration for the yellow and navy-blue team.

Sharing his thoughts on the team, the experienced defender said, “I found the team very strong. It was a tough European match, but our team played very well. Our coach is already top-level and experienced, someone who has worked with the biggest teams in the world. We have a talented, high-potential, and quality squad. I am very eager to contribute and help the team.”
