Fenerbahçe Club Addresses Attack on President Ali Koç in Official Statement

Fenerbahçe Club issued a statement following the attacks on President Ali Koç during the Göztepe match. The statement from Fenerbahçe Club is as follows:

During halftime of our Football Team’s match against Göztepe in the 2nd week of the league, while our executives were outside discussing with officials to resolve the grievances of our fans who had still not been allowed into the stadium and were exposed to tear gas, our President Ali Y. Koç and General Secretary Burak Kızılhan went to the stands where our fans were and met with the officials.

Subsequently, as our President and General Secretary were returning to their seats after our fans were allowed inside and the situation had calmed down, our President was physically attacked from behind without any provocation by a football hooligan holding a Göztepe accreditation card.

Following this heinous attack, it was indicated that the person in question was taken to the sports branch to give a statement to the authorities. However, it was later learned that the individual continued to watch the remainder of the match with their accreditation card, and no action was taken against them. Thanks to the attention of a journalist, it was also revealed to the public that the individual left the stadium, freely and having changed their clothes.

Everyone is aware that, under Law No. 6222, which has been enforced for years in our country, immediate action is taken and measures are applied in the case of the slightest disturbances. So, where does this person, who holds a Göztepe accreditation card, get their privilege from, and from whom?

Who gives the courage to this individual, who committed a crime in front of millions and left the stadium freely without any action being taken against them?

Our President Ali Y. Koç has filed a criminal complaint against this football hooligan, as well as all officials who were negligent, and the process will be closely monitored.

We also inform the public that we will take all necessary steps regarding the mistreatment of our fans before, during, and after the match.
