Fenerbahçe President: “Three Years Without a Red Card at Home? Unbelievable!”

Fenerbahçe President Ali Koç has called on Galatasaray to request a foreign referee for the derby on February 24. In his statement, Koç said, "Anyone who is confident and brave should immediately apply for a foreign referee for next week’s derby."

Speaking at Fenerbahçe’s High Council meeting, Koç made a striking challenge to Galatasaray. His remarks were as follows:

“We strongly reject a system where fair competition does not exist, and hard work is disregarded.

A distorted system… This team, which hasn’t received a red card at home for three years and plays with the freedom of knowing they won’t be booked, has played 11 matches in Europe—receiving 28 yellow cards and 3 red cards.

Anyone who is confident and brave should immediately apply for a foreign referee for next week’s derby, immediately! You already claim that you were the first to suggest foreign VAR, so what are we waiting for? Our situation is clear for everyone to see. But when the numbers look like this, you don’t want it.

Under their current coach, they have played 94 league matches and received only 6 red cards. Meanwhile, in 25 European matches under the same coach, they have also received 6 red cards.

94 domestic games, 25 international games, and the same number of red cards in both—6. That’s why you are succeeding here; that’s why the system is corrupt.”
