Ognjen Mimovic Confirms Red Star Departure: “I’m Going to Fenerbahçe”
Ognjen Mimovic, who has reached an agreement with Fenerbahçe, bid farewell to Red Star Belgrade following their match against Young Boys.

After Red Star’s 1-0 victory, Mimovic stated, “Winning is a great way to say goodbye. It’s not easy for me, but at least I part ways with a victory. Leaving the club you’ve supported since childhood is very difficult. This has been the best year of my career—winning two trophies, playing in the Champions League—I could never have imagined it. I leave with a victory, and this is my gift to the fans.”
When asked about Fenerbahçe and José Mourinho, Mimovic responded, “To be honest, I don’t like to talk in advance. I will speak once I sign the contract. I want to thank the fans. It’s disappointing that we couldn’t progress further in the Champions League. I hope our supporters continue to back the team—Red Star is a family.”
Transfer Confirmed by Head Coach
Meanwhile, Red Star Belgrade head coach Vladan Milojević confirmed the transfer after the Young Boys match.
“Mimovic is going to Fenerbahçe. The transfer is complete. He is joining a great club under a top coach like José Mourinho. Mourinho personally wanted him. After playing at OFK Belgrade and spending a year with us, our young talent is now moving to a major club. This is a motivation for all of us,” said Milojević.
Transfer Fee Details
The 20-year-old Serbian right-back will sign a 4.5-year contract with Fenerbahçe.
Fenerbahçe will pay €8.5 million to Red Star Belgrade and will also grant a 15% sell-on clause for his future transfer.
Tadić and Kostić’s Influence
According to reports in the Serbian media, Mimovic had offers from clubs in England and France. However, he chose Fenerbahçe due to the presence of Dušan Tadić and Filip Kostić, along with the influence of José Mourinho.
