Fred Reflects on Racism in Football: “Let’s Keep Fighting for Change”
Fenerbahçe’s Brazilian player Fred, alongside his former teammate Taison, who now plays for PAOK, spoke to UEFA about racism, delivering important messages on the subject.

Fred shared his experience of being subjected to racial abuse during his time at Manchester United. Speaking to UEFA, he emphasized the power of football, stating:
“It’s terrible that such things still happen in 2024, but we can’t always see ourselves as victims. Football is very powerful. Everyone loves football; it reaches the entire world. Let’s continue to fight to eliminate racism. Players sending this message reach many people.”
The Brazilian player concluded:
“Some people are still a bit narrow-minded and keep racism alive, but I believe that, as humanity, we are moving in the right direction together. I believe that in the near future, we will no longer hear about racism, but until that day comes, we must keep fighting, stand together, and remain strong.”
