All Eyes on Rangers: Mourinho Alters Routine to Keep Fenerbahçe Alive in Europe
After the shocking 3-1 defeat in Kadıköy, the Portuguese coach held a brainstorming session with his staff and, ahead of the rematch, made an unusual decision by scheduling the final training session in Glasgow.

Following their shocking 3-1 home defeat to Rangers FC in the first leg of the Europa League Round of 16, Fenerbahçe’s Jose Mourinho immediately began working with his assistants to overturn the result and keep the club’s European journey alive.
On Friday, the coaching staff organized a regeneration session for the players who featured in the Rangers match, while those who didn’t play underwent light running drills. Afterward, they conducted a match analysis at the training facilities, followed by an extensive brainstorming session regarding the rematch.
With Fenerbahçe having a ‘bye’ week in the league, the players were given two days off, but the effects of this meeting are expected to be felt starting tomorrow. From the beginning of the week, the team will focus entirely on tactical preparations, with the sole objective of securing a three-goal victory at Ibrox to advance.
DEPARTURE ON WEDNESDAY
Throughout this season’s UEFA Europa League away matches, Jose Mourinho has always held the final training session in Istanbul. However, for the Rangers clash, he has opted to conduct it at Ibrox Stadium, where the match will be played.
This decision was reportedly made due to the 6.5-hour flight between Istanbul and Glasgow, as well as the need for the team to acclimate to the expected 5°C temperature. The Yellow-Navy Blues will fly to Glasgow early on Wednesday, settle into their hotel, rest, and then complete their final training session before awaiting match time.
